I have just got to say, HOLY HOLY HOLY, Is Our God.
Im so serious. If you are missing the Jesus piece in your life, stop fighting it and figure out who this guy is, you are missing out.
As it is known by many, previous blog entry, or you know us personally, or you keep updated by via facebook, or what have you. We were led by the Lord to apply and pray specifically for two children in Jamaica, unkowing of the result. (View previous blog)
Verses we had gotten were about "calling out by name", so we did, protecting our hearts, since we weren't given verses that said "these are you kids", we tried to keep the mindset that maybe these kids needed extra prayer or just something outside our realm of understanding if not just purely being able to adopt them. But like I said, from the verses alone we remained skeptical to that outcome (even though we would have loved to take them!!!!!)
So, if you are ready to bear down with the amazing outcome that come from this Jamaica adventure... I will reveal the work that God had allowed us to be part of. And some of you may be thinking "err so..." and some may stand in AW of the Glory of God and how He only could have set up this divine appointment from Kennewick WA to little Jamaica.
As it is known, my husband and I are pretty insistant on anti human trafficking advocacy. Our hearts are overwhelmed by the destruction it has on this world, the precious children suffering as innocence is lost and money is gained- it is a daily burden my heart holds close to.
Timeline wise, we had been working on homestudy and applying for these children in Jamaica since late summer last year. We waited until January to turn in our application and were notified late in March what the outcome would be.
Many phone calls, many weeks behind was the Jamaican Govt according to the standard waiting process.
I ended up talking to a very sweet woman who put me on hold mid March, she came back to the phone and said "this is odd, your paperwork, you must call *a woman at a special phone number* on monday." I waited eagerly until Monday and you bet I called the second I woke up. This was almost the 11th week after turning in our application. (the standard time of waiting is 4-6 weeks depending on how quick your paperwork made it)
She has to be summoned to the phone and when she says "Hello." I say, "Hi, I'm Brittany..." She says "Phillips, Mrs. Phillips, yes, how are you?"
... Honestly, I had a hard time answering the question, as apparently we have become well known in the Jamaican offices after a few pages of paperwork...
She informs me that our paperwork has been "denied", that "No one, ever, puts specific names of children on the forms, especially having never been to Jamaica."
(Remember the CDA told me, specifically the first phone call i had about the children to Specifically put the names of the children down to get more information on them...)
So we chat a little more breifly; she comments that she "enjoyed our paperwork but with recent events, you have raised a red flag. Please turn in new paperwork without the names of children and we will see."
What I have not disclosed, is this. http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/latestnews/CDA-uncovers-suspected-human-trafficking-ring-involving-Jamaican-children
http://www.cda.gov.jm/CDA-Uncovers-Suspected-Child-Trafficking-Ring
I saw this and a couple other articles for the surrounding area, about a week or so before that phone call.
Human trafficking of children in Jamaica, at the exact timing of our paperwork being processed. ...
The overall outcome we will never know. But, we did turn in a new set of paperwork to just see if God will move us there more or if that is all He wanted for us and his children in that part of the world at this time. The paperwork after the fact was different from the first application we had turned in, you had to obtain a birth certificate for specific children applied for and a few other things in wording were changed around for the protection of the children is our assumption. The site that we had originally come to meet these children on had such wording changed as well, lacking specifics to each child and a couple other literary changes I can't remember off the top of my head.
So right now, for the Phillip's, our hearts feel the victory for those better protected through the red flag we raised in "calling them out by name". Even though our heart yearn deeply for the missing pieces of our family we have yet to meet and diligently pray for every night with our sweet goons.
And I can not even tell you how theraputic it was to write this event down.
We have left the door wide wide open for whoever God has intended to join our family, and for now, I wont reveal what He is working with us right now... but I can't wait to share, another time.
God Bless Jamaica.
Standing with you in prayer before the Throne of Grace
